The Hannaford

An Downtown Bar with Uptown Grit

Named after the famous architect who designed and constructed the building, Samuel Hannaford, the 100-year-old building sat vacant for 20 years. The brand was built around the intersection of the Pike & Madison Streets where the establishment caddy corners from. The angle of those two streets intersecting is where the logo was born from. Preserving the past, the original tile floor and support beams were exposed to juxtapose the rough interior with the refined brand. Leveraging old doodles from Hannaford’s sketch book, we designed a brand and experience that was authentic, raw and expressive of the city and the historic Hannaford building.
